David's harp with six strings strongly resembles the Anglo-Saxon one discovered in the Sutton Hoo burial:

David plays his harp and composes the psalms while amanuenses on his right and left write down his words. The image picks up on the many references in the Psalms to dancing, the clapping of hands, and music played on the harp and horn.
